I ve been offered a tokai usg100 , which looks exactly like the usg50 .

the truss rod cover of the usg100 has three screws like the chinese or koreans made.

the link of the guitar I am talking about is here:

http://www.segundamano.es/la-coruna/tokai-usg-100-custom-triple-handbucker-/a25046189/

then I find another usg100, sold in the uk that looks like this:

( correct truss rod cover)

in the uk tokai website I found the usg100:
3 screw truss rod cover

page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=25&category_id=15&manufacturer_id=0&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=31

and the usg50
3 screw truss rod cover

I need help, is the usg 100 a japanese made?I asked the seller more pics, espe3cially the back of the headstock, and I also asked if the guitar comes with certified papers etc..

cheers

Agreed, it's very confusing with the model numbers changing by the year but the guitar you've been offered is made in China. as you say the firast give away is the three screw TRC.

Have a look here:

None of the traditional series are made in Japan:

Seconded. The pics are poor (probably deliberately) but there are a few giveaway details there. Three-screw TRC is a pretty solid indicator on its own.

yeah ... just what I tought.
anyway the usg100 in the tokai uk website is priced 999 british pounds !! very expensive for a chinese made..

http://www.tokai-guitars.co.uk/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=25&category_id=15&manufacturer_id=0&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=31

but that 's very strange because there is no usg100 in the tokai website you posted before . In the vintage series there are the sg88 and the 118s

thanks for the quick response, I post some pics as soon as I receive 'em from the seller

Looks like Bob at Tokai UK has put the wrong picture up. He's showing the 55 pic for the 100 (now a 118!)

Easiest way to distinguish any Traditional Series SG from any Made in Japan model is the body contour.

Traditional Series.

Vintage or Premium Series.

And...

If it's a Gibson Custom Shop 61 RI the scratchplate will hang off the body, so it's easy to distinguish from a Tokai. :D
