If the maple top has a crack. does it effect tone?

One crack is going through one of the pots the other through a stop tail bolt..Must have been caused by impact. Does this effect tone in anyway?

Without knowing what model the guitar is and lacking any pictures, it would be difficult for anyone to make any useful comments.

I'm guessing the answer will be that tone will be affected to some degree but only by knowing the extent of the damage can anyone make any guess as to how much.

I have only seen laminate/veneer tops do that :wink: .......... and it likely won't effect the tone; it just looks like crap ........

I was thinking the same thing Rich, if it is the laminate that is cracked it should have no effect on tone at all.
