Why the rounded end? The Chinese FV has the original pointy headstock. What's up with the MIJ? Do they really ship like that today - with the rounded off headstock? Am I missing something completely?

Hi there!

That's the way they look, rounded off like the 70's/80's Gibbo V's. The Edwards V's are also made like this with a slight modification. I think it looks much better than the '68 style pointy headstock but that's just me.

Best regards,

Thomas

The first Flying V's had pointy headstocks like this 59:

Later on the headstocks became rounded:

Hmm... Ok. That's cool. It doesn't look bad. I'm just surprised it's not a copy of a '68 V.

I have an 84 MIJ Tokai V.... 68 style witht the fat headstock:

Very nice... both of them. Everyone should own a V

That's what I'm thinking. The perfect slide guitar.

Bound-neck Vs do appeal, but at the end of the day I think I'm more settled on the simpler unbound board. And reflectors over witch-hat knobs. But these are very small quibbles. Those are two really good looking Vs.
