Hi all.....need some info on these because I'm considering buying one.

Are the bodies chambered or not? Some sites say yes, others say no. They're incredibly light (less than 8 lbs) and the only way I can think that a maple and mahogany "solid" body can weigh that little is if it has some extra air in it. If chambered, what are the advantages and disadvantages compared to solid wood (other than more comfortable to play during a four hour gig)?

One model comes with the super circuit push pull pots for coil splitting. One model doesn't - what can you tell me about the super circuit set up? How do the various coil selections sound? Good out of phase tone?

Overall, how would you rate the Jimmy model and the other standard Les Pauls from Edwards?

Thanks guys,

Marcus

Marcus,

I own an Edwards Jimmy Page Relic w/ supercircuit. Like others I've read about, it is very light (under 8 lbs.), but I have no idea if it is chambered. Like you, I have a hard time imagining a guitar this light not being chambered. There is no obvious evidence of chambering. I've tapped the back at many points and don't hear any tonal differences that would indicate chambering. One observation is that the mahogany back seems to be particularly pourous, both on the exposed back and what I can observe under the pickups and in the control cavities. I don't know if this is the reason for the weight.

One of the main reasons I purchased this particular guitar is the supercircuit. It gives you quite a bit of flexibility in its tone. I doubt if I would have purchased this model without it. I'm not a gigging player, but if I were, I would expect the supercircuit to allow a little more flexibility from switching guitars.

I can't recommend it highly enough. I've certainly enjoyed it since I received it, and it continues to be the guitar I reach for the most.

Cool....thanks. Maybe if we ran one throught the xray at the airport, we'll be able to answer the chambered or solid question once and for all.

I'm pretty much sold on it - just trying to justify buying another guitar. Might have to sell a couple.....

Hi Marcus,

I own the Edwards LTC 90, the LP Custom model in vintage white,
the guitar is flawless, nitro lacquer, real nice ebony fingerboard (I bought
it because the specs are closer to the original LP Custom specs
than on the Tokai LC 90), the action can be set ultra low, amazing
fretwork, but the neck is very, very chunky, a real 50s baseball bat
(just in case you have small hands and/or prefer smaller neck profiles.)!

I changed the pickups 'cause I don't like those standard Seymour Duncans
and replaced the caps with military grade russian PIOs. The guitar turned out
to be my most punchy (in some way brutal) Les Paul, perfect for those
John Sykes riffs...Overall this guitar is on par with my Tokai LS 85F regarding
craftsmanship.

Thanks Andi....

your input on the neck profile is helpful because I don't have huge hands and the giant baseball bat necks are hard for me to play - although, I do like the wide, flat SG necks.....

I'm curious as to the profile of the Edwards Jimmy Page - it's usually described as "medium chunky".....

Marcus,

The neck of my Tokai feels more comfortable than the neck of my Edwards. But it is not so chunky that it would exclude it from the decision of purchasing one - for me!

And the price is very attractive ... compare yourself ...

Thanks Roger.... I checked it out. Lovely top.....

Think I want one with the supercircuit electronics - lot's of split coil variations.

I've sent out a few feelers to a few shops in Japan - waiting to hear back. These things seem to sell as quickly as they come out.
