Hi ,
I am going to buy a new guitar and i dont know much about japanese les pauls
I am in love with a white les paul .Randy Rhoads look.
One is a greco RR-95 And the other is a burny lp custom from the 80's
I need to know which is better guitar ,which guitar you choose ?
the greco got a kahler tremolo,DRY 1982pickups
The Burny,VH1 pickups RLC-60 OR LC-70RR I dont know .the weight is the same to both guitar and i dont know much more .The man say that guitar is one piece solid body.
Some people tell me that i a have to choose the burny but they dont say why.
i got a mess in my head.
Opinios are welcome .
Enrique

White Burny RLCs were first introduced in 1989 as a RLC-60 and had VH-3s. From 1990 it was called RLC-65 and had VH-1s. From 1991 and up it was called RLC-70.
LC-70RR (LC-75RR from 1990) had VH-3s.
So if it has VH-1s it's a RLC-65 or RLC-70 from 1990 or later.

RLC60: maple or mahogany top/mahogany back
LC-70RR: maple top/mahogany back.
No way one of those has a one piece solid body.

If the Greco is an RR95 then it's from the 80s. Maple top/mahogany back.

You can only compare those guitars on specs but that doesn't say much on how they will sound. There's no one here that can give you advice on this except for personal preference. You have your own preferences so need to compare them in real life.

As for personal preference: I also lean towards Burny as, although no high end models, most of the mint collection Greco's I've had in my hands were a dissapointment (and pretty heavy!).
The Burny VH3 are well balanced pups with very nice rounded PAF tone.
I would go for a mid 80s Burny. Be a little patient and wait for the right one to come along; chingo123 on Ebay is a good choice.

Yes I was watching the Greco RR95 from Chingo123 ,good seller seems to me ..but yeas Youare right the weight is a handicap. The other, the Burny is from dirtyblueoveralls and it seems all that you write to me .
You advice will be reward with a big review when i buy the guitar.

Hmmm super interesting: split diamond logo with 1989 pots!!

Looks like a very nice guitar although looking at the routing probably made at the Fujigen plant too (like the Greco's). I don't know how he can say it's a 1 piece body, the cavities are painted..
Good weight on that one.

and the last link for the white les paul is

A big THANK YOU JACCO!!

Hmm what's wrong with the binding on the body of that one, look at the pics of the side of the body; seems like the binding has shrunk?

When I look in the 1990 catalog there's no EGW-85 only a EGW-700 and EGW-800 which both have screaming pups, so I can't say which is this one. Long tenon is a nice feature and the weight is good but I would still go for a Burny :D

Maybe the routing for the binding was made too deep. In all honesty, that Greco looks a bit rough for some reason (to me).

To me also, I don't have a good feeling about that one

at the end i think that burny wins .But that greco RR-95 with Kahler likes me too
if I knew how it sounds .I Could forget the weight.
Anyway tons of thank You for your time

I forget what about the dry 82 pickups?
are they better than VH1 OR Vh3 ?

Enrique

In my opinion yes.

In my opinion no
I have problems with Greco bridge pups generally; I don't feel them, no life.

You cannot go wrong buying from villager (japanguitars).

Especially seeing that you are in Europe.

Both the natural top RLC and the RLG "Honeyburst 2" are excellent guitars.
