As far as I see this bell TRC is the 50's style one. You can get it from Gibson (Allparts) directly via your local dealer or for a more authentic look you can choose DMC (www.crazyparts.de) or you can look at fatboy guitars.
But all of these are really expensive, but I haven't seen an accurate TRC for a low price yet.

Sorry, seems to me I was wrong. The bell looks more like a J-200 Bell with custom inscription. I never saw that as an replacement. You can get J-200 TRC's and Byrdland TRC's with custom on it sometimes on ebay, but if I were you, I'd take a "normal" 50's style TRC.

Regards

I've never seen a replacement TRC with the wide white border, but this is the normal Gibson historic spec one. What about the screw placement on Tokai TRCs? Are they much different from the Gibson Ones?

Thats what i was hoping, normal bell TRC are slightly out but i thought the older truss rod covers were always a bit shorter, i thought it was from a j200 as well!!

Hmm, it also appears one is on eBay for about $60!

I think that's Clapton's 335. The truss rod cover is not stock. The stock one is the same as the ones on the Les Pauls from the '50s. They have a wider white border than current Gibson replacement parts but not as wide as on that 335. TRC probably comes from a Super 400ces or something.

But what about screw placement? Would you need to drill a new hole to get a Gibson TRC to fit a Tokai? My LP is on loan to a friend so I can't check right now. My Tokai is a Love Rock 2.

Yeah i know its Claptons mate, thats why i wanted a TRC like it

Most of the time yes you have to drill a new hole, but however with vintage or vintage style ones, apparently there a little smaller and you can get away with it.

Thats the one i think....

Here's a TRC from a Byrdland with custom on it:

I can say, that a Gibson 50's TRC fits my Epiphone Elite J-200 perfectly, as well as a Gibson J-200 TRC.

Hope that helps.
