The neck looks correct for a 1980-1982 Springy. Deluxe tuners and stamps look ok. The body routings don't match that of a Springy. I can't see any stamps. I don't recognise the electrics, but they are not Springy.

All of my maple Springy and Goldstars have 8 hole single ply pickguards. There are lots of anomalies out there. Since I've seen a number of examples of maple neck variants with L series neck plates and 3 ply pickguards, my theory was that some clever dick at a dealer was maybe swapping parts...

No these look different. The solder spots are spaced differently and the wires are routed through a hole to the front on mine.

The tuners have definitely not been replaced. I'm also thrown by the pickups which are black bottomed. It also doesn't have the brass control plate that you would see on the SS from that year.

Hi guys, This is probably one for the uber-experts like Villager, Peter, et al. This appears to be factory routed as HSS - the factory stamp is intact and no evidence of post factory routing. All lacquer is in place. Pups seem different or replacement - surely not dimarzios...

They don't always match - but they mostly do. When they match, it's a quite likely confirmation that they belong together. If they don't match, it could be that it was made like that, or that it's an assembly of sorts afterwards. I don't think anyone knows 100% what the number codes mean, but...

First 1000? They started making these in '77. The serial is for an '82, so how can it be of the first 1000 built?

I've never seen a Tokai Strat older than '84 '85 without the pickup recesses. Nor does the pickup routing on this body match any Tokai of of the '70s/'80s. I can only say from examining the 35 or so Goldstars and Springys I currently have, and further ones I have sold on, and of this forum...

It's because the pickup routings aren't correct for a Springy. Also, spaghetti Springys had allen key adjustments for the truss rod, not cross-head as with later Goldies. Everything else is 100% correct, and the decal looks a bit 'fresh'. I assume it has been reinstated with a decal - the trend...
