    1981 Greco Spacey Strat (SE500)

I am based in Australia so this might be a long shot. I have a 1981 Spacey Sounds strat in pretty good shape. Really minimal fretwear. The guitar almost looks new with the exception of a few minor scratches and a chip in the finish. I am pretty interested in getting a telecaster with a...

    SE800J questions

I've got a 1981 SE800J. This model seems weird to me. Supposedly 60s style strat with Jeff Beck mods that he had at the time. But it is an 8 hole pickguard which I thought was 50s. I read somewhere that the pickups are all the same (ie. no reverse wound middle). I hate the black...

Tremolo arm replacement for 81 SE800?

I seem to recall someone saying the MIM strat tremolo arms fit in the old Grecos. Is that true? I have a super real that is missing the arm

Allow me to say hi (ahem and to ask a question...)

I am looking into a 335 and just wondered if any of the Tokais have fat necks. It sounds like the newer Edwards are fatter in general. I want something like a 58 or at least 59 LP in terms of thickness.

    Cat's Eyes Summary?

I am trying to piece together a summary of the Cat's Eyes guitars. (I was expecting to find one here.) I am going to post some of the limited information I have put together and hopefully others can fill in the blanks. Brief History (From Tokai Wiki): Tokai Guitars Company Ltd., is a Japanese...

SOLD: 1989 Greco RS900 Super Real Project

Sorry I forgot to update this. Sold this a little while ago. This is the guitar I said I would never sell. It has amazing tone. Tortise shell binding, abalone inlays, gold hardware, nice wood. Someone else playing one with a nice amp: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0vscSh9rbU

WTB: MIJ LP with 58 style neck.

I am looking for a long tenon, nitro finished MIJ LP with a fat neck. Some people perceive their guitars as fat necked but I will need measurements with a caliper just behind the 1st fret (not including the strings). The goal is basically to find something similar to the 58 Gib custom shop...

Any MIJ LPs with a fat 58 neck? (>0.92" >23mm)

I am trying to figure out if there are any MIJ LPs that have a fat neck. Over at mylespaul a few people suggested the Bacchus Duke. I am still waiting to hear from them what the typical neck thickness is at the 1st fret. I played an R8 and they are apparently 0.925" at the 1st fret (23mm or...

Beat up 70s Fernandes strat - 3 to 4 bolt neck replacement?

So I picked up an old Fernandes FST50 (I think) Maple neck with big headstock (and 3 bolt) with the stone logo. The body does not have a stamp on the inside. Its a 3 piece sunburst. It has the grey bottom pickups. I can't tell if these are the good ones or not (the catalogues say L5 etc..)...

    Pickup question

Ultimately I want an ES 335 style guitar but I want the sound to be not muddy. I envision a guitar with the upper 3-4 strings sounding like a humbucker on a 335 and the bottom 2-3 strings sounding like that of a stratocaster. Is there any pickup out there that can achieve this?

How many fake Tokais were brought into Canada?

I just read the threads about the fake Tokais in Canada. I am just coming back for a visit and saw one advertised in a local web classified. It didn't look right so I did a little research here and found out about the unlicensed Tokais that were brought in. It looks like there are 2 more on...

Going to Tokyo, will I be able to buy an ES Tokai cheap?

Just wondering if I should spend half a day going to a few guitar places looking for used Tokais or if that would be a waste of my travel time. Anyone have any advice on this?

www.disnet1.org or hohotrade --> anyone heard of them???

These guys are advertising the Chinese made Tokais but I am not sure if they are fake or not. Their site doesn't allow you to contact them and it just seems generally dodgey. Anyone know anything more?

ES 175, 137, 135 shaped alternatives to Gibson??

This may offend some but I think I prefer the shape of the above listed models to the ES335 for ability to reach the upper frets. The cutaway on the 335 doesn't feel comfortable to me. However the above listed models are too expensive (pretty much anything labelled Gibson is!) The Heritage...

    Bacchus Universe BSA-1200 SB

Can someone tell me more about these? They are made in Korea. The other day I played a Tokai ES60 (Made in China). I had a great neck and played really well. However the pickups sounded not quite right to me. I can get the Bacchus for less with a case and it is made in Korea. However, I...
