You are lucky it's a maple neck ;-)

    Tokai Silver Star 1983

I tested one USA Strat 1978 model the other day, it was horrible! Heavy, ugly, dead/dull sounding and with something I would not call rosewood fretboard. I'd rather call it a laminated neck. I have never seen thinner fretboard in my life!

    Tokai Silver Star 1983

It must be relevant then, when deciding how much to pay for a Silver Star, to know if it is a SS-36, SS-80 or something in between, right? In my Tokai LP replica gold top the type is stamped in the neck cavity.

    Tokai Silver Star 1983

I have been offered a Tokai Silver Star 1983 model. Have not seen it yet. What is your opinion on this? I am going to take a look at it tomorrow or Wednesday, it sure would be nice to know something about it when I check it out. Are all Silver Stars born equal, or do they differ in quality and...

    New versus old

I think it means that if you want a new Tokai with the same specs as a vintage LS-80, you would have to get new LS-160. :)

    New versus old

Thanks Reborn Old, this is what I was after with my post, opinions from people that own or have tried both new and old Tokai?s. Your post is very interesting indeed. It is very useful to know that a base vintage premium model is LS-80 and up, while modern premium models are LS-160 and up (or...

    New versus old

After I got my 1989 LS-55 I fully understand what the fuzz is about. It?s better IMHO than any Gibson LP that I have owned and played. It has this singing woody feel and I can get rich harmonics all over the fretboard, without effort, whenever I like. So the "old" LS 80 and the "new" LS150...

    New versus old

. Yeah I know Gordon, it?s all relative of course. I tend to lean towards older gear to..... but only if it is better than a new similar guitar. A good guitar gets better with use in my opinion. I can get a new Tokai ULS150 for around 1400 pounds, and a good used one for maybe 1000 Pounds...

    New versus old

It would be interesting to hear from people that have played both the ?old? Reborns and Love Rocks and have also played and examined the newer high end guitars from Tokai, say guitars made after 2000. How do the new ones stand up against the old ones? Are they of similar quality as the old ones...

    Yamaha SG 1000

It seems to be hard for me to find a dealer that is willing to order these pots for me, in Iceland anyway. ;-(

    Tokai LS100 Reborn model 1979

What are your thougts on this one. Seems to be a good price if it is an totally original Tokai LS100 Reborn, model 1979, as stated. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1979-Vintage-Tokai-LS100-Reborn-/110900621121?pt=Guitar&hash=item19d2312f41 Cheers T

    Yamaha SG 1000

Thanks mate. I think Yamaha discontinued the push/push pots used in the "old" SG1000 and SG2000. I have been trying in vain to find out what they use in the new/reissue SG1000/2000 guitars. Cheers TIV

    Yamaha SG 1000

I have a nice 1998 Yamaha SG 1000. It has been refretted and unfortunately the pots have been changed. It probably had two 500K Volume pots originally and two push/push tone pots, probably 300K. It has the original pickups and a dead straight neck, ebony fingerboard and weights 4300 grams. I...

    Tokai Telecaster

It seems to be TE-80 or TE-120. It has the original pickups and is very similar to this one http://s765.photobucket.com/albums/xx291/generalunrest2/tokai/tokai%20Breezy%20TE-80%20120%20Nat%201984/ The neck pickup cavity is intact and of typical Telecaster design. Unfortunately it is not for...

    Tokai Telecaster

Hi friends, can you tell me anything about this Tokai Telecaster? http://s1073.photobucket.com/albums/w393/throsing/Tokai%20Telecaster/ The serial number is 013563. I forgot to take picture of the original Tokai bridge pickup that comes with it. It has a thick copper plate under the pickup.
