Thread revival alert!!! Decided to go ahead with the refin a year or two ago. Got a local chap to to an aged-white finish for a mid-60s vibe. He kept all the original dings and scrapes, so it still feels like my guitar. Very happy with the result and it gets a lot more play time these days!

While I was at it, I took a photo of the volume/tone pots. (Note also the damage to the wood around the screw holes that worries me.) Both are marked M500KΩB so even I can work out that they're 500k, which explains the brightness when turning down! This seems like an odd value as most things...

Yes, it's quite hefty, but not as heavy as I've been led to believe many of the 70s ash strats were. It really is a great looker, so hope it sells. I was tempted but it's a bit heavier than the guitar I would be replacing it with. Which sort of defeats the object. Thanks anyway.

Out if interest, does the ash body make these heavier than the regular TST50s? Also, this one seems a bit whiter than PhilWs in the linked thread, which looks more of a vintage/yellow white shade. Presumably the difference is down to lighting? Lovely looking guitar btw. I've been admiring it...

I think Norman Watt-Roy used to use a Tokai Jazz bass. I also read in an old interview that one of the Blockhead's guitarists used to use a Tokai strat that had a Fender decal on it.

Luis - thanks for this. I never realised that there were two different types of PAF MK2s used in Tokais! I just dug out the PAF MK2 pickups that were originally in my ES120. They are Gotoh made - you can just make out the word "Gotoh" faintly printed on the labels that say "LP-A F" (front/neck)...
