I have had this '03 ES100 for a year and a half now and the Pup covers are getting progressivly gungy! It wasnt that bad to start with. It wont just wipe off either.Is this common and, what is the best way to deal with it?

Its Brilliant! Im really happy with it ....but I bought it online, the shop said its a LS 70. There is no model number on the outside . The Serial number starts 030 so its Japanese made guitar. Is there a way to confirm the model number ?
