I have a Tokai LP Custom listed for $1050 (Australian Dollars), which would be well within your budget of 900 euros, even with shipping. It's not a "vintage" model, but it's basically a reissue of a 60s LP Custom... and you don't have to worry about fretwear or other issues with old guitars.

I've seen some tutorials online explaining where to connect an extra wire if you want to convert a 2-conductor humbucker to a 3-conductor for a Jimmy Page-type configuration... has anybody tried that with the MK2?

They generally say 85-87, but there might have been a bit of pre-production in '84.

I have GAS... but what I've figured out is that I want to take a Hamer-ish guitar and customize it with some WCR pickups and split them with some push-pull pots...

I'm pretty sure it's just a thin polyurethane finish. To the best of my knowledge, only the really expensive models have a nitro finish.
