OK guys, how do capacitors affect tone?

Another side by side. This one all roughly the same value in an LP Custom.

I’m honestly not hearing a difference worth noting. Maybe I would notice if I were the one playing, but it’s hard for me to perceive.

And in the real world things are not typically side by side.

If the tone is lacking in a Les Paul, I don’t know if I’d be switching to bumble bees. My two cents. 8)

And as a disclaimer I rarely touch my tone knobs and keep them wide open, which I guess means they are essentially doing nothing.

While playing, I adjust tone with pickup selection, the amp, and my fingers.

Honestly, if you can't play and/or your amp is worth two pounds of poultry at your local store, there is no reason to go for those extreme mesures.
It's a spec, it speaks to the guitar nerd that some of us are. But you will not hear it unless you change the value of the component, or you start messing with the wiring. The overall quality of the instrument, the playing, the overall chain with the speaker at the front row ; are of much more importance.
