Thanks, I was going to ask about posting photos. It is a six digit serial number, i notice there are two or three on the registry, they all say they are Japanese. If it is Chinese, then someone has stuck a MIJ sticker on it. The bass very good, it is better than my American Fender PB in build and sound quality. A couple of my bass friends have tried it and commented how much grunt it has got, a beautiful guitar.

From late 2009 on the serial numbers were inked on the neck and the first two digits are the year. So 10 would be from 2010 for an inked on the neck serial number.
And it is very common for guitars to sit in a music shop for a few years.
