Hi all,
I've lurked on here for a while, but posting to see if there's any info on my Jazz Sound. CAR with matching headstock.
I bought it 6 years ago via Ebay, and it's got MADE IN JAPAN under the lacquer by the neck heel.
Can't find a serial number anywhere, even under any bits! Plain neck plate. For some reason I had it in my mind it might be around 2003, but can't remember why. The neck heel has 10-31 penned on there.. 2010?
The scratchplate doesn't look original (rough edges), and in a couple of places there are two screw holes. Possibly originally without a plate at all?
A really good, solid tone and beautiful feel about it.
Besides a really nice bass, what have I got?

Edit.. just trying to work out how to attach pics!

Image not working

This? https://www.vintagejapanguitars.com.br/en/tokai-1994-catalogue/

Thanks for your suggestion.. definitely not the J from the 94 catalogue as they have the slanted neck pickup.

Deffo need help here.. I've got pics on imgbb but can't get links to work.
Gave up this afternoon cos the site kept blocking me as spam!

Imgbb is the easiest. Select BB code and copy then paste here. Just resize the picture first.

Ah HAH! So it seems the insert image button was confusing the issue, as all I did this time was copy and paste the link.
Anyway, yon link appears to be the 7 pics.. see what anyone thinks!

Looking like an older neck on a new body. It's had two different pickguard's fitted recently.

I thought that.. the current one is a bit rough particularly around the control plate and just up from there. I did wonder if originally the bass had no scratchplate, as I'm sure I've seen pics of such from Tokai.
I know the pots are Japanese as I looked inside with a view to possible switching options. I've lent this bass to a friend for a few days while I set his bass up, so will check the pickups once I get it back. See if there are any other marks in the cavities.

Hi all, I let this slide due to lack of any other markings or clues, but just got a link through to this thread.

Well worth clicking for Push Notifications!
Looks like AJB45 MIJ early 2000s which IIRC is what the seller thought when I got it. A really nice solid bass without particular collectable value, but I have no plans to move it on anyway. Would anyone on here know if the neck pocket would likely take a standard F replacement neck? I have a yen to make it fretless for a while, and there are a zillion 'standard' necks on the market.

I got these from your links:
