one thing I have noticed with unique and/or exceptional vintage MIJ examples are the asking and selling price points, which have generally been rising over the past several years.
The example you posted the eBay link for is certainly considered vintage and the top is very unique.
I don't see the asking price point as being wild but that's just one opinion based on what I mentioned in the first sentence of my post.
As time goes forward I expect the unique and exceptional examples will continue to have asking and selling price points that continue higher.

I have considered offering the '81 LS-60 I have that is in excellent & 100% original condition and that has the exceptionally figured and flamed solid top that looks like it belongs on a LS-200.
I can only imagine what an example like it could bring for a selling price point.
I know a general ballpark of what I would be asking for it if I ever offered it; it would be a lot more than the one in the eBay link and I'm very confident there would be a buyer for it at that price point.

Supply and demand is always key and in the case of vintage MIJ examples the unique and exceptional examples keep getting harder and harder to locate, thus prices keep rising. I don't see any real end to that scenario.

eBay listing is gone but is now listed (2 days ago) on Reverb for $450 less than the eBay listing :)

That birds eye top is pretty sick :D

Definitely a special one. That is some top.

you should see the top on my '81 Tokai LS-60; it truly looks like '81 LS-200 maple :)

I still cannot explain how/why this exceptional maple top ended up on a LS-60 but I'm glad it did :D

you can see it here about 3/4s the way down the page

LS60s and LS80s were often wild cards.

I had a 1983 LS80 (with the oval sticker) shown in the first post of that same thread. It had a 2 piece body and a solid flame maple top. A few of those have shown up here.
