My friend bought this guitar and couldn't find any info with the model number or the serial number. He took it to a specialist who couldn't find any info on it anywhere. He was only able to say it is most likely a very rare authenic Tokai. I just thought I would try here if someone has any info about this guitar.

Sorry he only sent me these 2 photos.

I’m not sure, but the first two digits of the serial number (97) could be the year.

Check out this catalog from 1999 showing a slightly more expensive model, TC50.

May be the same guitar with a price increase. Check the specs.

The 30 means it cost 30,000 yen new. That’s roughly equivalent to $200.

Lower end electrical guitars in this period were made in China or Korea.

The label is for the brand, not where it was made.

Here is the TC50 from 1999. 50,000 yen is roughly equivalent to $350.

And I wouldn’t call it rare. Classicals are just not as popular as steel string acoustics.
