There are 2 model examples of the TST purple sparkle. The TST55 as a rosewood fretboard and 1960s fender styling, there a few examples of these world wide.

There are only 2 TST60 54 (single button string tree on both examples, fender 1954) purple sparkle guitars in existence. Both serials are 1 number apart as serial numbers 21921 and 21920

The crimson (red) sparkle was only available as a TST55 rosewood example, there are a few examples. No TST60 54 crimson sparkle version.

Can you clarify when these were made? I thought the "-" sign was after 1985?

Here is a metallic pink. Maybe that is what I am thinking of?

Are these 1985/86 Goldstars?

They have the - instead of the =.

All dated 1985 only. All crimson and purple sparkle examples are 1985. The colour is from the 1985 purple sparkle Flying V as a 1985 only catalog model 😉

Amazing! I have been trying to date these Goldsatrs with the - in the production code.

Peter Mac was saying that indicates "a post-85 build". Looks like they may have started in 1985, so I was misunderstanding what he was saying about the start of that period.

1985 Flying V purple sparkle catalog model.

100% 1985 😉

Aha I know Peter Mac, have you got a copy of his book. He is correct that they came to the uk as shop guitars in 1986. My example was a uk example the other is in Sweden, I think each European country got one as a shop special for distributers of the uk. There are 4 in the uk. My TST60 purple. One TST55 purple and 2 TST55 crimson, rest ate all over Europe.

I’m sure they are distribution shop specials and probably not for sale in 1985/6

Peters book has it 90% accurate but there a just some minor discrepancies but very minor like for example the ST80 never had VS1. The TST80 goldstar however did have VS1 but pre 1983/4 it’s ST100/120 only as vs1 pickups.

Checkout http://cliffsguitarworld.com/

Cliff has the examples Pete wrote about but ask “Cliff Jordan” of http://cliffsguitarworld.com/ to send the link to his flicker account. He has the very best japan guitar collection world wide

Cliff is a member here. I have bought a couple guitars from him. I am sure he would appreciate you saying that.

Cliff is a great guy. I’ve dealt with him a lot. I’m obviously not called “fenderdan1” 😂😂😂 that’s just a name for here. It’s just Dan

Too late. Now you’re stuck with it. Just like Cliff is saddled with his comic world tag and I am saddled with the time when I used to collect sigma guitars.
