I have never seen these inlays on a Love Rock. It's more of a Gibson style inlay seen on their prewar Mastertone banjos. Tokai used it on the 1982 on ES200s.
From what I can tell from the linked thread, plus some guessing, is that the neck was repaired at Tokai, and they needed to replace the fretboard, and decided to put a fancy one on there while they were at it? Again, lots of guessing in that hypothesis.
