Starting a thread to document these rare guitars and see if we can figure out when they were made.

We don't happen to have a serial for that one, do we?
The JB should be a 1982, it's the only year that combines the spaghetti logo and Fender-format serials. The Silver Star has a small-cap SS60 logo decal, which is 1982-only as well. And that's also the year with both the only partially documented "Limited Products" range and the "Custom order system" sections in the catalog. Could well be connected.

I wish I had the serial number. Looking at the older thread where I originally posted it it looks like it wasn’t visible.

I have an all black Springy like the one above with a serial number L02147 . I can post pictures later

Awesome. Thank you.

It is looking like a range of these were built in 1982 +/-?

Another later script logo guitar for comparison.

I know that painted neck guitars show up in the mid 80s as Limited or Super editions, etc. but I wanted to show that the standard Fender clone models were also occasionally made with matching painted necks after 1982.

Script logo Breezy TE50 BBR.

Note: Also have seen basses (Hard Puncher & Jazz Soond) with script logo and matching painted necks (black and Olympic white).

Beautiful. Do you know what model it is? That Springy on eBay was listed as an ST55.

pretty sure it's an st60. There is a very similar one in the " Tokai forum members collection vol. ! book" by Ian Black

Have you seen any other colors of Fender style Tokais with a painted neck?

For some reason I seem to remember seeing an all Metallic Red bass at some point? Also an all Lake Placid Blue Limited SS70. I might be imagining it since I can't find them.

I did find this however.

Script logo Jazz Sound in Olympic White.

Still looking for one with a spaghetti logo.

Guessing these painted necks tend to be less expensive models? Perhaps painted to cover necks that have blemishes? Also Polyurethane finish was used on the less expensive models. Handy as well for durability re neck wear on painted wood?
