Wanting to start a thread to sort out the neck shapes/profiles on Springys.

Here is what I was able to translate from the Spring '82 catalog. Translation is not perfect, but a good place to start.

-'54 model (ST80.100.120) Small head stocks, Kluson type peg, string guide, V shape neck are all perfect.

-'58 model (ST60, 50) It may be mistaken for ‘54 at first glance, but it features a U shape neck and a parallel 2 way string guide.

-‘60 model (ST70R) rosewood finger board is a big feature. Shape. Hamochin U Shape. New love place with ST70.

-‘64 model (ST50R.60R.80R.100R.120R) Neck with laminated rosewood finger board. All models U Shape except ST80R

-‘64 Rare Model (ST70) Headquarters Hatsuneba. It is a Maple neck with a maiden pattern that is also used by Japanese Soon guitarist MT.

Interesting thread.

My 1981 ST80R (rosewood) has a more pronounced V than the ST100 (maple).

Still my (rosewood board) Breezy has the most 'V' feel to me. 8)

Interesting that you said that... I was thinking the exact same thing last night when I felt both of mine.

ST100

And

There are two types of neck shapes, V shape and U shape, and the V shape is the same shape as the '54 Strat and is a triangular neck that is commonly called. This is especially liked by professional musicians who are looking for soy tech, probably because their fingers are so smooth that they don't feel tired even after a long period of time. The shape neck is a little slammed and familiar to the hand, and it's very good to play 3 times. You can play advanced techniques as you like.

Tokai V necks with rosewood fretboards:

1979 beige foldout catalog does not specify fretboard, but says the ST80 and ST100 have a V shaped neck.

1980 foldout catalog says for the ST80 neck: Maple one piece V shape, rosewood fingerboard also available (second line in chart below).

1981 "Flat Top" catalog says that the '64 Oldie Model ST80 has a rosewood fingerboard V neck.

And the Spring 1982 catalog seems to be indicating that the ST80R for 1982 had a V neck.

The 1984 catalog shows that Goldstar TST60 and above (except the TST70) had a 1954 "V" neck on models with maple fretboards. TST60/80/100.
