Starting this thread to document those big headed CBS era style Silver Star Tokais. 8)

Seems like they break down as 1966 & 1976 replicas?

The 1966 version has:

-serial number on neck plate
-maple or rosewood veneer fret board
-no skunk stripe

The 1976 version has:

-3 bolt neck
-bullet truss rod adjustment
-serial number on head stock below logo
-skunk stripe

1982 SS65 with no skunk stripe/maple veneer fret board owned by "greco burst".

"Here is my SS60 4 bolt neck, natural colour SS65N, 1982, 6 digit serial number on neck plate, ST vintage U pups, Sen body, Urethane finish, Springy Sound body routing, cbs saddles, and it has the 1982 traditional Tokai logo font on headstock, with a brown Tokai case."

1983 SS40MR (or TSS, since there's no '83 catalog we don't really know what designation they used that year). H-stamp pickups, well-worn but a great player if you like slightly smaller necks. Replaced knobs, tone pots and cap, missing back plate.

Another 1983 SS/TSS, 40 or possibly 38 in OW finish. The white pickguard is non-original, so it might have come with a black one. Also missing back plate and trem arm, but the electronics (incl H-stamp pickups) appear to be original an untouched.

And a third '83, a SS/TSS40MRR. H-stamps, one replaced tone pot, missing back plate, otherwise original. I seem to have missed taking pics of the neck code on this one.

Thanks for posting those. For some reason I can’t see the images. All I see is the word “image”.

Huh. Odd, they show up just fine here. Anyone else have the same issue?
