Just collecting photos of these special guitars.

They are not a replica of any one guitar, and instead combine a V neck you might see in the 50s with a rosewood veneer that didn't appear until the mid 60s.

Fun guitar to play and I'll never sell my '81.

The date range seems to be from very late 1979 to 1981?

So far I have seen them in the following finishes with GS seemingly the most common:

GS (1979,1980, 1981)
YS (1980)
OW (1980)
FO (1980)
N (1979,1980)
MR (1981)
GM (1981)
BB (1980, 1982)

Color options for the ST80R by 1982 were:

GS -YS - N - OW - BB - FO - MR - MB

Interesting thread.

My 1981 ST80R (rosewood) has a more pronounced V than the ST100 (maple).

Still my (rosewood board) Breezy has the most 'V' feel to me. 8)

For reference.

Oh man... I smell a new thread. LOL.

Seriously if you want to post here, that would be cool with me. I was mainly interested in the V necks with rosewood boards.

You have some amazing Tokais BTW. 8)

Not a Springy a Breezy, but it definitely fall into the "not a replica of any one guitar" category with its rosewood board on a V shaped neck.
It is my longest in possession Tokai electric and it still is my favorite guitar overall.

I wonder why they used a hex nut instead of a flat screw so it could be adjusted without removing the neck, does not make any sense
Fascinating!

My 1979 ST100GS, SN 9003909, has a neck code of 8=3&4 A...

It's a flame neck. No rosewood board.

And there is at least one ST100 on this forum owned by siamackz that is a rosewood board V neck. From 1980.

My new ST-100
