We shall see.... Hopefully the new owners at Tokai will be able to coordinate a defense to this challenge to their brand.

As with the dust up in the UK with Fender and Tokai in 1982, the dispute was dealt with through the importers/distributors and the courts.

Something similar may be afoot in Australia.

Everything i've said about them is from conversations between me and the board of directors/owners. The CFO and the new owner (Yuta) sat down with me when i was there a few weeks ago and it came up.

They were a decision between Jade Music (the former distributor here in Aus) and a third party Chinese factory. The Legacy guitars were never checked by Tokai Japan or authorised, they were done completely under the table by Jade Music.

Tokai has used a Chinese factory for a while, but it's not the same one that the Legacy models came from.

New Tokai Legacy series.

​The new Tokai Legacy series for 2016.
We would like to welcome our new Tokai Legacy series. The new Legacy series are Chinese made models with Basswood body's instead of Mahogany body's that we use for the Traditional series. In appearance the Legacy series are the same as our Traditional series and beside the Basswood body, the neck is made of Chinese hard maple and we use Chinese Hardware(vintage looks). The Legacy series carry all the guitar models were known for but for a very good price.
Now even beginners can start playing guitar with the right instrument for a good starter price!

This one apparently made it to Finland?

I guess the order could have possibly placed by Musiikki Lukinmaa Oy in Finland? That would widen this out beyond just JADE in Australia.
