8) i was about 17 when i first heard this album. my best gtr buddy bought it
from TOWER RECORDS yokohama and we listened to it a lot then.
it was an imported LP vinyl record from USA and cost like $20 maybe.
we were already past the stones and were learning the blues deeply.
we were also past the japanese gtrs and were deep in the american gtrs
and vintage guitars. i had 2 vintage reissue strats and epi casino.
my buddy had a vintage reissue tele and black gibson les paul custom.
we werent competing each other but we said and showed new
learned blues licks each other everytime we met. we werent but
i guess we were some in a friendly, fun, respected way.
our idols were EC, SRV, the three kings, johnny winter, keith richards,
people like them. we were really into the gtrs and music. and at the time
especially into the blues. we believed it as one of the coolest things
there were. we werent going to school much anymore and soon to quit.
we never minded. it was around 1988 or 1989....just before the 90s began....

what was this album like to you and do you have any story to tell?

I was more of a Cream man Joe...Tales of Brave Ulysses,Badge,Strange Brew etc etc was where my head was at Clapton wise...still in fact.
I strive for that "Woman tone" in my live rig as often as I can fluke it :p

Beano = best tone, touch, phrasing ever IMHO. Hideaway, Steppin Out, Double Crossing Time, Key to Love, All Your Love... all amazing solos. Must have sounded awesome in the 60s, especially compared to the other guitar tones around at the time.

For my money, Clapton's tone sucks these days...unless he pulls out his 335:
