Hi again, all. Starting to get the hang of these IDs, but your input/confirmation would be awesome.

Based on the serial and discernible specs, I've clocked this as a 1980 ST-80. Look right to you?

Hi - what makes you think this is an 80?

If anything going by the serial number patterns in 1980 I would say this is more likely an ST50/60. I'm not saying it isn't an 80 but there isn't enough in the photos you've provided to identify it. You really need to see under the pick guard, it should have E pups and an A stamp to signify a nitro finish.

Have a look at the serial patterns in 1980 for ST50/60s and then ST80s - most of the ST80s are in the 6000-9000 range, the 50/60s are in the 10000-15000 range.

I second what ATO said.

I assume you have more info. Does it have a V neck?

Repeating what ATO said about pickups and an A stamp in the body code and on the neck.

Also, be sure neck and body codes match or are close wrt month and batch number.

Pics under the hood and neck pocket will help.

My suspicion that this is an ST-80 came from the fact that that was the only ST model in the catalog that appeared to match. I did not see the 50s and 60s listed. You'll have to forgive me, I must have misunderstood something!

@Sigmania I haven't got my hands on this one - it's listed on ebay. I've been on the hunt recently, hence the deluge of questions.

Based on the price ($600+$165 shipping to the U.S.), you are probably correct that this is a lower end model.
