It seems to be the continuation of the LS300/320/370 line that began in 1995?

They disappear from catalogs after the 2012 catalog. Likely due to supplies of the wood used (Honduran & Jacaranda).

Tokai LS 420 2016 Honey Burst

Built in Tokai Japan factory using selected Honduran Mahogany, Jacaranda Rosewood and Flam Maple 5A Top. A singular and unique guitar that will bring you the vintage and traditional Les Paul sound.

It comes with Goth SD90 tuners, aluminium tail piece, tune-O-Matic bridge with brass saddles and Seymour Duncan Seth Lover pickups.

More comfortable than normal C shape fat necks. The neck is 21,5-22 mm thick at the first fret and asymmetric C shape. It weights 3,9 kg. Original Tokai Deluxe Brown Case included.

Tokai has managed to find really high-quality wood materials for these individuals. The mahogany species used in guitars are difficult to come by these days. Fortunately for these players, depending on the individual, the weights are 4.0 kg - 4.3 kg. Of course, the Mahon crystal frame is a full-throated whole-blown bodysuit, and no extra holes have been drilled into the frame. The rosewood used in the stud line is also selected and is very nice to the colours of these guitars. The curved 5A-level blaze foaming pines made of two pieces are very spectacular. The classic combination of mahong and maple also gives a LS-specific buckle with both the heat and depth brought by mahogany and the brightness produced by maple.

Tokai LS-420 guitars have fert end binding, i.e. the ends of the tape are under the edge list. A stylish-looking implementation and also makes the playing feel pleasant. Japanese expertise is reflected in all the details of these guitars.

When it comes to parts, everything is right: Vintage-type Gotoh tuning machines, high-quality Tune-o-Matic-type titan with brass saputs, CTS pots, and Switchcraft jacket switch and jack. On the electronics side, you'll find Sprague Black Beauty capacitors, including: Premier Guitar magazine has judged to be behind the original 1958-1959 Les Paulie's magical and sought-out sound. These concasings make the sound a little rounder, warmer and generally tastier. A small part, but an important role and Tokai took this into account.

In all three Tokai LS-420 individuals currently on sale at our market include Seymour Duncan Jazz Neck (SH-2N) and JB-tallamick (SH-4). Made with Alnico 5 magnets, Jazz is one of Duncan's most popular swig of versatility and its sound remains clear, whether you play in clean shades, blues cereal or high gain squeam. A mic made with vintage intensity has really often been spotted in LP guitars. JB is at least as often used in a Les Paul-type guitar. This one has Alnico 5 magnets. The top accent has a suitable accent, the lower frequencies have power and a higher intensity than vintage, especially when played through the amplifier, nicely adds to sustain and richness to the sound.

The Tokai flagship models have also obtained a valuable enclosure. A handsome metal nameplate, a sleek reddish-brown surface with white folding and a handle made of brown leather tells us that this case belongs to a top-level guitar.

2013 Tokai LS-420 Cherry Sunburst

2013 Tokai LS-420. This was one of Tokai's top models in 2013 and rivals a Custom Shop model in terms of specs, quality and playability.

Top of the line specs include:

• Honduras mahogany 1 piece body and neck
• Solid flame maple cap
• Select Madagascar rosewood fretboard
• Thin lacquer finish
• Tokai MK2 pickups
• Cherry sunburst finish, though it's a light cherry

It's in very good shape with some play wear especially around the back corners. There is a small, dull finish mark on the top near the cutout and a couple of small dark marks in the binding (I tried to capture with the pics below).

Plays like a dream, weighs 9.4 pounds and the neck is similar to other Tokai necks, medium 59 shape and size.
