Hello!
I want to buy vintage Japanese strat type guitar and I found this Greco. Seller says this is 1981 Spacey Sound SE1200. Is this true? Can you help me with identification? How much is it worth?
Do you have any guide with which I can recognize Grecos by myself?
Have a nice day :)

Yeah. I’m not a Greco expert but the names relate to price level.

Spacey Sound is in the 40,000 - 50,000 yen price range.

Voidoid56 on another forum:

“The Spacey Sound moniker was used on two Strat models between 1980 and 1982, the SE450 (70's copy, big head, bullet, three screws) and the SE500 (pre-CBS copy, normally early 50's style, small head, four screws). Both have the same pickups (PU-S5) overwound to about 7,5k. I've had three 500s from that time period, the one I've kept is one of the finest Strats I've ever had. I have a 1981 SE450-derived off-catalog model as well, also a seriously good guitar.”

Greco Spacey Sound?

November 1981 SE450S. Replaced plastic, the original parts would be black, and the scalloping is a mod as well, of course. Probably a great guitar though (if you can live with the scalloping), in my book they're just about the finest 72-76-style MIJ Strats around.
