It seems that CM means Custom.

Further, the model number may be similar to normal production models, but the specs are often different, as these are "custom" orders.

Custom in this case means that the model is somehow different.

So an LS380-CM is not necessarily the same as a regular production LS380.

Same with an LS420 made after normal production of this model ended around 2015. After that they were special orders and the store placing the order probably had some choices on specs.

INFORMATION

The long-awaited appearance of 5 special colors that can be said to be the symbol of the old-fashioned model. We have started accepting special colors for ST, TE, PB, and JB series. Mania-like colors-Sonic Blue (SO), Candy Apple Red (CR), Gold Metallic (GM), Lake Placid Blue (LB), which can be said to be a symbol of the oldies model rarely produced in the 1960s. A brilliant appearance of Metallic Green (MG). The list price is increased by 5,000 yen for all models. In addition, the reception of the same color finish of the body of the head stock part will start at the same time, and as with the special color series, all models will have a uniform price increase of 5,000 yen. In the case of head coating in the special color series, a total of 10,000 yen will be added. Delivery takes about 3 months after receiving an order. Please apply at Tokai product dealers nationwide. Assemble the parts of the Tokai Electric Guitar series to the specifications of the custom-made system.

I noticed that in 1981 they offered lefty versions of their flat top guitars.

By 1982 they clearly say that they are not making left hand guitars.

By 1985 they are making left handed guitars again.

Tokai Springy Sound 50 Jeff Beck 1979 トーカ... - ヤフオク!

Serial number......9004820 Made in 1979. Weight......4.2kg.

The Jeff Beck specification is similar to Greco's specification, so it is only the shape of the appearance. The neck shape is U-shaped, and the pickup is U-shaped.

Overall, it is in good condition. It may have been made to order when it was brand new. The condition of the neck is almost unused. There is one place where the paint is peeled off about 0.5mm . Pick up.....All three are OK, but they have been in storage for a long time, so please tune up each part before using them. We plan to ship 160 sizes, and they will be sent in a hard case.

Description of item​

I had it made on a semi-order basis in September 2022.
The basic model is LS214.

Body top: Selected quilted maple (laminate)
Body back: Honduran mahogany 2-piece
Fingerboard material: Madagascar rosewood
P mark: Avalon inlay
Pickup: PAF Vintage MK2 Zebra
Frets: Jesker FW47104 (more than 90% frets remaining)

Deep joint, capacitor is an orange drop.
I think the main body weight is 3.7kg, which is on the lighter side.

After purchasing it, I hardly ever played it and fell asleep.
The front P/U is in the opposite direction.
The P/U select switch is also reversed from front to rear.
(Easy to fix)
Volume\tone knob If you have a normal item, we will include it.
There are some small scratches and scratches, but they are hardly noticeable.
I am putting it up for sale in order to organize my equipment.
