Very nice. Pickup covers have not aged like the volume/tone controls though, may have been some tinkering under the hood.

The knobs and the pup covers seem to be different plastic. I have seen that before.

And that guitar has been played a lot. A bit grubby.

But my 1979 ST100 seems to have the same type of plastic on both.

Here is an '81 with a similar situation where the knobs yellowed and the pup covers stayed white.

Seems like the plastic used in the parts changed over time.

Pickup covers apparently changed first to the more stable plastic.

Seems like the plastic used in the parts changed over time.

That will likely be the reason. Some types of plastic are prone to yellowing in UV light and other environmental conditions, also depending on their particular composition and addition of stabilizers etc. - so these knobs might be ABS while the PU covers are PVC or something along these lines.
