    S/H Tokai LC85 - Edinburgh

Any of you near Edinburgh in Scotland looking for a second hand MIJ Tokai LC85 Wine Red? 2009 model - not gigged - ?499.99. At the Live Music Shop on West Cross Causeway. Might still be in process of cleaned and new strings put on. I'm the one previous careful owner. With it being the LC85...

    Tailpiece Height and Top Wrapping

After a few more monthe I thought it really was time to change the strings. So I've tried the top wrapping. No noticeable (to me) change in tone or sustain (good, because they are great already) and only a slightly different feel to the strings - certainly not the floppy feel I've seen some...

    Your Recordings?

Been messing around with a new Vox Tonelab ST, and trying out some slow blues. I've got a lot to learn and still find the recording process gets in the way of musical flow. Don't expect too much. I use a Vox Amp and the Tonelab is the closest USB interface I've yet found to getting my...

Tokai LC85 - Hope you like the tone

It's a few months since I got my Tokai LC85. I've been meaning to post a piece to try to show off its sound - there were so few demos out there on the net of the LC model when I was looking for a Tokai. I hope this one does it justice OK. Any shortcomings are down to the "artist" and the...

    Inflation and Guitarist Magazine

Good point and agreed 100%. :D It's interesting to see how they toe the line to please their advertisers. Still I suppose they are in the magazine business to make money.

    Inflation and Guitarist Magazine

Article in the Guitarist magazine (UK) just out on its 25th anniversary. There is a comparison of prices between 1984 prices in todays value compared to current prices. "In the main guitars amps and effects have come down in price in the last 25 years" it says. It goes on to say "surprise...

Anybody got $325,000 in spare change for serious mint mojo?

Hmmm... bought by someone with no transactions previously who joined e-bay a week before the sale. Notice the pictures on the one sold and the one now for sale are identical. And the exact same description. Common as muck these $325,000 guitars. :-?

Tokai LS85 Gold Top audio/video demo.

Excellent video. Looks like it's shot by someone who appreciates the looks and quality of the guitar. Plus a high quality performance and a nice sample of playing styles to highlight the guitar qualities. And quality = the LS85. The Mk2s do sound so good - not surprised at your comment...

    LS 150

Very difficult to know in these circumstances who might have an attitude to who, when the rest of us weren't there, so I'll not give an opinion on that. What I do find easy to know though is I have been given crappy, ill-informed advice and detail in musical instrument shops so often that I...

    First time bying tokai...

I bought an LC85 from Richtone - just UK delivery though. Better than I had hoped for - quality build. Really good set up and very well packaged. Very helpful on phone talking over the options, gave sensible advice, and also very helpful on e-mails.

    Help guys

My LC85 bought a couple of months or so back from Richtone weighs in at appx 10 lbs, but has a wonderful tone and sustain to match. Was the last wine red in stock. Really solid and well built and, like all guitars with that magic wow factor, sounds like a much better guitarist than me is...

Wood resonance and the "Park Bench" Guitar

That is interesting - thanks for the post. How it actually is / was seems to keep changing depending on circumstances, and dare I say, sales. Any views whether the now trumpeted tonal advantage of chambered and weight relieved bodies are down to justifying what is done to heavier wood...

Wood resonance and the "Park Bench" Guitar

http://www.gibson.com/en-us/Lifestyle/Features/tonetipswoodresonancethe/ I particularly like paragraph 3 - "Sometimes a piece of wood just doesn?t want to be a guitar ? it wants to be a park bench". I've tried out some of those in the shops.

    LS150F or what?

From a practical point of view I'm happier that a Tokai can play and sound as good as a Gibson for a lot less cash and I'll overlook a miniscule pimple. If the price is right and a guitar plays easily and well and sounds good it's ticked all the boxes for me. Not to mention being able to have...

    Tokai UK Customer Service

I've been most impressed today. I've been continuing to use the factory installed strings on the LC95 as the tone has been so good. With every other new electric guitar I've got I put new strings on immediately along with adjusting the set up. I was able to check with Richtone that the LC...

    strap locks

One that works for me is 1/2" rubber hose washers - either one or two on each strap pin, depending on how loose the strap is. Done this on sevaeral guitars and no failures as yet (fingers crossed). Very low cost alternative. :)

What the hell is this Hendrix model nonsense from Gibson?

Someone has suggested this Fender / Gibson mongrel should be called a Fibson.
