    Fret King By Tokai

While hunting around the web I found this review originally in a copy of guitarist (UK mag) http://www.fret-king.com/reviews/fkguitarist_april08.pdf Although it's for Fret-King guitars, page one talks of a tie up between Tokai and Trev Wilkinson to produce "Fret-King by Tokai" guitars. It...

    Springy Questions

Well maybe not so much questions more clarifications of what I think I know. Block logos - I assume these were transitional between 7okai and tokai - roughly what sort of period was this (I assume it's around 82/83). Was the block logo applied to springys only or do any goldies have it (I know...

What should I be looking to pay for an.....

early to mid 80's goldy or springy. Haven't got anything specific in mind, I'm kind of thinking along the lines of an ST50 (nothing too exotic) in the UK?

    LCS85?

Hi all I found this one on ebay and was kind of thinking about chancing my arm (having been drawn toward white customs for a while, but only just come to terms with it......)...

UK Distribution to cease? Surely this can't be true?

Hi guys - first post in a while........ Just read on another forum that UK Tokai distribution had ceased. Is there any truth in this rumour? Looking around they still seem to be as available as ever.

    Another Perfect Day

Caught Motorhead at the Leas Cliff Hall in Folkestone last night - usual great set. Real hightlight was a cover of Lizzy's "Rosalie" which seriously blew my socks off!!

    Lack of guitar volume

Need a bit of help guys. Just bagged an Ibanez Sa160QM on evil-bay for a bargain price. It was pretty filthy - but has cleaned up a treat, but I have discovered an electrical issue. Basically it's not loud enough - in order to get any kind of usuable sound out I have to crank the amp to...

Guitars from Korea that are not Tokais

There are always questions on the boards about the differences between MIK and MIJ Tokais. I've been looking at what other manufacturers are doing and I've noticed that ESP and Ibanez seem to be producing some very high spec guitars in Korea (LTD MH400 being a good example - it costs about the...

    Boss ME150

Anyone had any experience of the Boss ME150? I'm ready for fx again and this seems quite good 'cos it's more like a pedal than a normal multiFX.

Oil filled Condensers - not pots

I've noticed that high spec tokais have oil filled pots. I guess this is not a new thing but have never really noticed them before (or had any idea that they existed). Be grateful if someone could give me a bit of tech support and provide an idea of how the differ from a normal pot apologies...

    Epiphone Logo

Does anyone know if have epiphone changed their logo? My brother just sent me a picture of an SG Special he's acquired - the headstock is different from standard and the logo is like a winged epiphone E.

    RGT Exams

Has anyone taken the RGT grading exams? I'm kind of thinking at giving them a go and wondered if anyone had any experience of what they're like

    Make you own guitar

I have a friend who has just started playing guitar. He bought a "super electricity guitar" on ebay for about ?50 and decided that it was so bad he could probably do better. So armed with a tape measure and pencil he made these up in the factory he works in. They're currently only prototypes...

    Tokai LS320 on ebay UK

I found this on ebay - quality of the picture is pretty poor and the seller keeps feedback private (which certainly puts me off). Clicking on the link brings up quite a catalogue of guitars with some nice finishes - but their no cheaper than anywere else (at least the models I checked wern't)...

    Matt Finishes

Just wondered if anyone has experience of the matt finishes Tokai are doing - they look really cool, but how do they hold up over time - do they "shine up" with play (which might look cool) or do they hold up pretty well?

    My Old Strat

I have had my original strat going on 20 years - an '81 US International Colors series - a real ugly duckling of guitar. I haven't really played it much in the last couple of years and got to thinking of it as semi retired. Anyway I thought I'd post some pictures of it - it's a genuine relic -...

Do guitarists spend too much time worrying about tone?

I was just reading another thread about fretboard woods and effects on sound and it got me thinking. I do sometimes worry if we guitarists worry too much about the effects of various guitar parts and wood have on our sound. Admitidly we can tell the difference (sometimes we can't which is...

I was sent a link to this site www.projectguitar.com It deals a lot with building guitars, but there are some fantastic maintenence and set up articles. Even stuff on how to professionally clean your axe (the difference between clean and really clean!!!).

The Most Annoying Problem in the World

You know the output jack socket has that bolt shaped washer type nut thing on it? Anyone got any idea how to stop it from working loose? I notice it most on my love rock and a tele I had a few years back - as the lead rotates so too does the socket and the nut loosens. (strats seem to be imune...
