So why do it? It seems to me like the highest price you would ever get is from someone looking for a "Tokai". List it as what it is. When I'm searching ebay, I search "Tokai". I don't want to have to wade through all of the crap that comes up with "Gibson" or "Les Paul".

There is a region named "Tokai" http://www.j-heartland.com/ Apparently the Museum of Musical Instruments is located in Hamamatsu, also the location of the Tokai factory. There is also a village named "Tokai", but I would guess the name is based on the region. The village is closer to Tokyo...

JV 94279 seems too high of a serial number to be mid 82. I own serial number JV 01833, which is from the second month of manufacture (I think it was April 82 or thereabouts).
