3 Early 80s TOKAI ls -120s from the same seller?

I have an '82 LS100 that has a lot of this going on. There was a thread on it a few years back. The good pics are on page 2: http://www.tokaiforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=4108&highlight= The thing I don't understand about these tops is: why put a laminate on top of a cap that is clearly flamed...

putting my Tokai babies on Ebay (sigh)

So why do it? It seems to me like the highest price you would ever get is from someone looking for a "Tokai". List it as what it is. When I'm searching ebay, I search "Tokai". I don't want to have to wade through all of the crap that comes up with "Gibson" or "Les Paul".

Show us yer Tokai at YouTube...

They don't look too interested there, do they? That was the first song we did. It actually turned out pretty good later. More people showed up and they liked us a lot. It was kind of a wierd set-up as we had the pool between us and a majority of the crowd. Nobody ended up in the pool, except...

Show us yer Tokai at YouTube...

1982 LS100. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=itnfZoxApPM The sound quality isn't great, it's just a little camera mic. There's a phasing effect as he moves the camera around.

    Edwards Les Paul Special?

Great guitars, especially for the money. I played one on my last trip to Tokyo and I thought it beat a custom shop model hands down.

    Is this Guitar a Tokai?

Based on your description, it could be an Electra MPC. I don't know it they were made in the Tokai factory or not. http://www.rivercityamps.com/electra/x310.php

    Why Tokai?

There is a region named "Tokai" http://www.j-heartland.com/ Apparently the Museum of Musical Instruments is located in Hamamatsu, also the location of the Tokai factory. There is also a village named "Tokai", but I would guess the name is based on the region. The village is closer to Tokyo...

    AST 62

I have a 1984 fiesta red AST '62. Based on my guitar, yours had a period correct logo removed: The "AST '62" and "Instruments of the world" portion of your logo look identical to mine, although in your picture 3 it looks like the finish was changed very close to the logo (so close it is...

    Is this forum dying?

I go in cycles. I spend more time here when I'm on a "Tokai kick". I've typically spent more time at TGP then here. although I did join here first. My interests aren't Tokai or even MIJ specific, and TGP is just more well rounded. I do appreciate what this forum brings to the table and will...

Not a Tokai but a Fender JV Strat

Maybe someone just swapped out the neck. Mine has a later dated neck, but I knew that when I bought it. Those early JV's are some good wood, though man. It's my favorite Strat and I paid like $400 for it.

Had a play around on an R9 today

R9s are fantastic guitars, there is no question about that. I have a 2001 with a Darkburst/Crossroads WCR set and a RS wiring kit. It is a great sounding and playing guitar. Sometimes I get tired of the huge neck, but it is the best Les Paul I own, probably the best guitar period. I paid $3000...

Not a Tokai but a Fender JV Strat

JV 94279 seems too high of a serial number to be mid 82. I own serial number JV 01833, which is from the second month of manufacture (I think it was April 82 or thereabouts).

    Returning to Tokyo

Jason, Glad I could help your quest. I'm just sorry it was fruitless. What's that shop with the "Music Joy" sign outside? I don't recognize it. Was that off of the main strip? Where are you in Korea, anyway? Seoul? I get down there on business every other year or so. Scott

    Returning to Tokyo

Jason, Yeah, that sounds high for a Goldstar. That's probably high end of the market range for an early Springy ST80. Is it a "spaghetti logo"? Keep in mind though, the prices are bound to appreciate if you hold it for a few years... I thought I overpaid for my ST100 two years ago, but when...
