    1978 SE-500W?

Visually that 500W is up my alley and the low weight is a plus. Check out this '79 600 for example - ebay Link. In demonstrably good/better shape.. but nearly 10 lbs! My shoulder just can't take it.... It's quite fun to look at 40 year old guitars that one might actually be able to afford! I...

    ST-80 GSR?

My suspicion that this is an ST-80 came from the fact that that was the only ST model in the catalog that appeared to match. I did not see the 50s and 60s listed. You'll have to forgive me, I must have misunderstood something! @Sigmania I haven't got my hands on this one - it's listed on ebay...

    ST-80 GSR?

Hi again, all. Starting to get the hang of these IDs, but your input/confirmation would be awesome. Based on the serial and discernible specs, I've clocked this as a 1980 ST-80. Look right to you?

    1978 SE-500W?

@Voidoid56 -- I must say, after spending time lurking through these forums, my secret hope was that my post would conjure a response from you. You did not disappoint! What an awesome, thorough, and fun reply to wake up to! Thank you so much! Also, your 500V is stunning. I'm jealous. Your thesis...

    1978 SE-500W?

The listing states that the pickups are PU-100 and that the body is Agathis, but I suspect that those details may have just been pulled from the catalog/their own research. How could they discern the wood type on a painted body? Here are a few more detail pics, in case the tuners or headstock...

    1978 SE-500W?

Checking out the guitar below, listed as a 1978 500W. Thing is, I checked the '78 catalog, and none of the models - save for the 800 series - feature a pre-CBS headstock. Any clues on what might be going on here? Thanks in advance!

    1982 Fender Style Serial Numbers

Hey @Sigmania , followed the link to the various MG listings in your above post and found this: https://www.tokaiforum.com/threads/metallic-green-gallery.26372/post-203949 This is in fact the exact guitar in question. I've sent an offer to a dealer in Japan, we'll see what happens. Doing some...

    1982 Fender Style Serial Numbers

Pardon the newbie mistake re: abbreviations! Great to know that this serial seems accurate for a Springy of this era! I must have misunderstood in thinking that the 11--- serials would not be on spaghetti logo models. Sticker does seem to show "65" The color is what has drawn me to the...

    1982 Fender Style Serial Numbers

Oh cool! I think I found the thread - https://www.tokaiforum.com/threads/ss60-gallery-4-bolt-version-1966-rare-model.28729/ However, the guitar in question here is a Springy Sound, not a Silver Star. Was there a period when Springy Sounds with spaghetti logos and five-digit 11--- serials were...

Hi there, long time lurker. Can't thank you guys enough for the research and legwork thus far. I'm looking at a SS ST with a 5 digit backplate stamp and spaghetti logo. From perusing this thread -- 1982 transition period? Guidance appreciated, thanks!
