Re: Anyone got a pic of ST50 wiring?

Yeah. That’s a bummer. I love the 3 ways with the soft between positions.

Re: Site Loading Issues

Hi Ned, It’s consistently this site. When it lags I will load a different web page which loads immediately then come back here and it will usually load. Is it potentially an issue with the cache? That just occurred to me that it’s storing info from previous visits possibly? I dunno. I’m no software ...

Spring 1982 catalog. https://i.imgur.com/tKbsfCO.jpg 5. Rick Nielsen. Old guitar collector Rick is now crazy about Tokai. This person, Rick Nielsen, who doesn't need to explain any more. Probably the number one old guitar collector in the world. As you know earlier in the previous catalog, he got th...

Re: Rick Nielsen and Tokai

Where I got this information from I don't quite remember, but the story went that Rick Neilson's Cheap Trick were on a tour of Japan in the 70s and Tokai Gakki entered into an endorsement arrangement with him and his vintage strats and teles(this may have also happened to his Gibsons) and their har...

Rick Nielsen and Tokai

Starting a thread to collect stories about Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick and his early involvement with Tokai. This was inspired by a post by bluejeannot (see below) about the origin of the E pickups, then I spotted another blurb about him in the Spring 1982 catalog, so I wanted to see if there was an...

Also, what is the word on the top line to the left of the price in the descriptions of the top three Cat's Eyes models in the 1975 catalog that translates as "Romania"??

Origin of the Cat’s Eyes Name

From the 1975 catalog:

In particular, the shellfish embedded in the 12th fret is called "Cat's Eyes", and the brand name was decided from here.

Re: Are Reverb, Ebay, etc., history now?

I would assume that Ebay won't be collecting taxes, it sounds like they are just tracking income since the economy has shifted so heavily towards e-commerce. That is where the money is. And I believe that you are taxed on profit, so keep track of your costs. It can be a pain because I have bought gu...

Re: 1975 Tokai Cat's Eyes Catalog Hi Res Scans

Bingo! The origin of the brand name! Translation from catalog: Cat's Eyes is a masterpiece created by a technical partnership with Martin Guitar, which is known as "a synonym for acoustic guitar" and is recognized by people all over the world !! The basic design is 1933. Due to Martin's original D.4...

Re: 1975 Tokai Cat's Eyes Catalog Hi Res Scans

Not the best translation with Google Translate. Not sure what the word “Romania” actually is? It is used for the top 3 models (CE2000, 1500, and 1200). And I think they are using the word “veneer” in a different way than I do. I think it may possibly even mean the opposite, as in solid versus plys o...
