Re: Stunning Newer Tokai LPs

Flamed back? Were they some sort of sandwich construction like the SEB or something?

And one thing that is always interesting for me, but is the rumor true that they don't have any kind of CNC ?
They definitely use CNC, and were in fact pioneers using it for guitar making.

See this thread:

Re: Tokai 'Legacy Series' LP-Style vs Tokai Traditional Series LP (both p90)

Gotcha.

Hopefully folks will get their money back and these guys will lose their ability to do that to anyone else.

Really crappy way to treat people and they did lasting harm to the brand.

Re: Tokai In Nagano

Based on these last two guitars, it looks like at this Nagano facility that the LS and SS models at least may have shared serial numbers since those two are pretty close. S/N 1101962 S/N 1102368 At Hamamatsu, the serial numbers were independent for LS, ST, etc. http://www.tokaiforum.com/viewtopic.ph...

Re: Tokai 'Legacy Series' LP-Style vs Tokai Traditional Series LP (both p90)

Jade Music Australia sold them to all of their Australian dealers and didn't tell them they weren't licensed. They essentially scammed both their dealers and Tokai Japan. Did they get sued? I can't believe they could get away with that in Australia. And how could anyone think they could get away wi...

https://muzicman.com.au/tokai-legacy-series-lp-style-electric-guitar-gold-top/#gallery-3 Just saw this second link that you posted. Yeah, these are really bad knock offs. Maybe change the TRC from "Legacy" to "Fake". 8) Not sure where these are being sold, but they are obviously illegal. https://i....

The Legacy one was never licensed by Tokai and is counterfeit. The previous distributor had them made in China without Tokai's knowledge and Tokai never received any payment for them.
Thanks for sharing the story.

Bear claw spruce top. Fretboard looks really interesting. Macassar ebony? Re: id a Tokai Love Rock

For comparison with another LS80. Note TRC.

Repro TRC, bridge, and tail all available at Faber Germany.

Correct TRC might cover the holes?

Re: id a Tokai Love Rock

Looks to me like a 1980 LS80 BS with the original case. S/N 0010837 It's in overall good condition for a 42 year old guitar, but it has some mods (3 screw TRC, tail, bridge?, rail bridge pickup). Fret edge binding with the plain top makes it an LS80. As an LS80, it should have a one piece mahogany b...
