Re: Flying V is it worth a refurb.
Tokai Vees are all over the place in terms of pricing. I sold my rare Michael Schenker model (1984, I think) a few years ago, and it took quite a while, and I had to drop the price a bit to sell. Of course, the B/W colour scheme stands out like a sore thumb and isn't popular with all guitarists. A f...

Re: 2000 LS-320 Goldtop - What have I purchased?
Late to the thread, but Yoshi at GS Universe definitely has/had a fairly influential relationship with Tokai. It was Yoshi who negotiated with Tokai for them to make me a one-piece-top LS-320 in about 2002. It took him a while to persuade them and/or them a long time to find a suitable piece of wood...

Re: The Earliest Tokai LPs
Earliest I ever saw was on Yahoo Japan sometime in the early 2000s, when I was a nerd for Tokai research. :) That one was 8000349 and my notes show it was an LS80 with double-ring Kluson clones and a 'bell' style truss rod cover. If I saved photos back then, I have no idea where they are now. There ...

Re: Hibiki HLS Models
I do have photos, but they are shakey and rather low-res. I'm off out now, but will post them tomorrow.
According to the file info, this would have been in Spring 2013.

Re: Hibiki HLS Models
Aha. I had wondered about HLS guitars when I spotted them in Tokyo on a trip there a few years ago. Took a few shakey phone camera photos in the shop before being chased out (inevitably) by Mr No-Photo! The HLS-420 was the highest price one I saw. It was labelled as "Tokai Order Model Series". Was w...

Re: Tokai 1983 Goldstar parts
Bump to say that these Tokai tuners are now on Ebay, with best offer. Any TokReg-forumite who wants to go there and submit an offer of £35 gets them. I'll reduce the price for everyone to £35 later this week.

gorgeous - I guess the colour has changed with UV? Looks lovely now.
I'd want to soak the pickup selector tip in some tea, though!

One-off Schenker Vee - headless!
Yes, headless, but not in the "OMG, Metal Mickey's snapped the neck of his V again" sense. This guitar started life as a Hohner G3T and I commissioned Wez Venables to turn it into my homage to Schenker. So it has the headless design and Steinberger-licenced trem. Now fitted with the two Seth Lover p...

Re: Tokai goldstar sound 1984 nut question
The nut on my '83 Springy was flat-bottomed. I know because it wasn't glued well and slid around quite easily. You can see it's about 1.5mm out of place in this photo:
