Thanks Guitar Hiro…
Here I am giving it a blast.

So false sycamore is actually a member of the maple family… I love wood. Presumably it’s still a hard tone wood but just a cheaper alternative. Like pau ferro which is a member of the rosewood family.
Either way. It’s bloody lovely looking and ripples and moves in the light just like proper...
Very interesting reading!
I mean… it could be a sycamore top. But I gotta say it looks a hell of a lot like maple to me. The back is definitely not one piece. Maybe three in actual fact… at least two. That would not make it one of the higher end models I am thinking. Headstock is definitely a...
Yeah good idea!

Mystery continues though. Bridge pickup is not a Dimarzio! 🤷🏻♂️ But the pots don’t look...
Thank you so much for the replies and information! It’s been extremely helpful. And that thread about the solid maple tops is brilliant.
I really wasn’t that taken with the Tokai at first. I was working in a guitar store back in the late 90’s and it came in second hand as a part exchange. I...
Here are the pics from the pickup cavity etc.

The mystery continues.
Anyone seen a Tokai LP with a plain headstock? No Love Rock?
Well. I took out the pickups and there are no markings in the cavities. Looks like a nice thick slab of maple though. The control cavity shows the original pcb board for the controls which seems to tally with those early 80’s Les Pauls. All looks right and old.
Hi everyone. Can you help me to identify this Tokai Les Paul.
I think it’s a Japanese model but it does not say Love Rock on the headstock!
Any info will help.
Thanks
