Blackstar ID core ...prepare to be amazed !!

Yes and yes! Tonight I tried the 10 watt Core ID with distortion pedal followed by an overdrive and then I tried a compressor. No problems. Am still loving this amp, but I am not convinced the larger Core models would be worthy of gigging on account of the small speakers. The other standard...

    tokai strats - any good?

Hi, welcome to the forum. That guitar is not 80's vintage, looks new Chinese made. Body is plywood, not that there's anything wrong with that it's just not worth anywhere near $399. With regard to the genuine 80's Tokai Strats, they are among some of the best strats ever made.

Blackstar ID core ...prepare to be amazed !!

I just bought one today, and I suitably am amazed. I already have Mustang Mini and Vox DA5, this Blackstar is a worthy challenger. Have you tried the software yet?

Is this a genuine Japanese Goldstar?

I can see the Tokai paint code for black in the body cavity. :o

Is this a 1984 Goldstar Sound?

The control cavity looks to have masking tape covering another stamp which may or may not be the same as the visible one.

    New Member, Counterfeit Tokai owner?

To the original poster. Have you tried raising your concerns with the seller? Looks to me like he has a line on some B stock there. Maybe he would exchange it for another (better) one. Over here in England we have Distance Selling Regulations (in addition to any eBay protection) for internet...

    Interesting ST80 spring sound.

An interesting feature of the necks that seems common with the high end Tokai models is that they mostly seem flatsawn and the lower models are generally quartersawn. This is a distinction that follows suit with original Fender Stratocasters where the majority of the more highly prized examples...

FS greco super real u.k/eu price dropped

My pickup parts bin is like the Debrett's Peerage of pickups. No wait I made that up, it's more like Poundland

    help with wiring

Don't use a shielded instrument cable for speakers. The shielding wire is inadequate for the power from an amplifier. You'd be better off using some 2-core insulated mains cable, like the stuff used for lighting (5-10 amps rating). Positive to tip of jack plug and negative to sleeve.
