    NGD! 1984? TFV70

I eyeballed the neck and did a basic string check by fretting both the lower and upper registers, simultaneously and tapping midway to see if there was any muting, thus indicating an up bow. I don’t believe there is any significant bowing on the neck. I did note there was some lacquer checking...

I’m fairly certain it is a culmination of the deep notches in the saddles and excessive bridge height. I have a genuine abr-1 on my LS gold top and the original gotoh that came as standard was basically identical to the vintage Gibson bridge. Both of which resemble the latter taller version of...

    [NGD] Zeus Custom Guitars ZST-60

Wow! That’s some of the best fret dressing I’ve seen on a vintage Japanese guitar. That Pelham blue paint and matching headstock set against the red tortoise is a such a sophisticated vibe. Definitely need to look into Zeus guitars!

I purposely omitted Jimi, only because I had never seen footage of him handling a 58 style v. I know he played many 67 style vs, both of the hard tail and whammy varieties. Experiencing some incessant buzzing on the low e string, and same again to a lesser extend on all the other strings...

I know that Mick Mars played a 58 Flying V on Dr Feelgood, my all time favourite Motley Crüe album. Which, is serendipitous, as I bought it the day I saw a Crüe gig. I’m also a huge fan of Lenny Kravitz, another well known flying v aficionado, whom famously played a signature v. In doing so...

The graining on that catalog model is so similar it could almost be that very same guitar. You’re right, the case has just much presence and personality as the guitar itself. It’s an extremely well made unit. No surprise to find it too is Japanese. Both the case and instrument had a good 30...

    NGD! 1984? TFV70

Hey guys, Super excited to share my latest acquisition with you all. I never thought I’d get an opportunity to hold, let alone own, one of these extraordinary instruments. Definitely a grail guitar, as owning its contemporary or vintage Gibson counterpart is obviously out of the question. The...

Genuine LS or Love Rock pick guard?

I’m still trying to resolve things on reverb. Hopefully, I can get something back for my lost time. I had noticed there were a couple of guards currently listed for sale on Faber website. Have you had any experience buying from the site?

Genuine LS or Love Rock pick guard?

After a failed attempt to fit this pick guard, I am 100 percent certain it is not a genuine Tokai part. It was not possible to properly install the guard between rings, nor does either hole align with the factory fixing points. I even tried troubleshooting this by loosening and reconfiguring...

Genuine LS or Love Rock pick guard?

The above genuine Gibson guard aligns perfectly! Notice the extreme misalignment on fake Tokai guard 🤦‍♂️ Fake guard needed to be forced to into gap to fit this poorly 💩 Gibson guard happily at home resting right in place 👏 The difference is clear as day, when the Gibson guard is overlayed...

Genuine LS or Love Rock pick guard?

Those pictures are great. Thanks! The pick guard shows the same tooling mark along the cut edge as yours. Gives the appearance of being two-piece laminate construction. The hardware all seems to be correct Japanese screws and I can’t differentiate the mounting bracket. And it does fit between...

Genuine LS or Love Rock pick guard?

I bought the pick guard off a Reverb vendor I thought credible, as they had a brick and mortar music store in the UK. The gold top shown above is a 1979, taken from a current Reverb listing. Which I assume is unmolested and a good basis for comparison. I’m still not certain this is a vintage...

Genuine LS or Love Rock pick guard?

Odd that none of plastics seem to be of the same mixture. The guard that I received has more of a pinkish hue than in the above. That said, the sharp 90 degree break angle of the mounting bracket does seem to be exactly like those seen in above. My initial thought was this was a poorly...

Genuine LS or Love Rock pick guard?

Here’s the mounting bracket that was supplied with the guard, along with all the mounting hardware. My concern is that, to my eyes, the aging presents as being artificial. It does not appear to be congruent with the age of the instrument it supposedly came off of.
