Let me know, I've already emailed the seller.
Mark.

yeah, I noticed a few things also, headstock truss rod adjustment, cheap machine heads, non standard bridge saddles, pickup screws too small,

I use Ebay quite a bit, and I'm used to nailing people with dodgy Fenders, but this is the firt time I've ever seen a Tokai fake, and it was only reading stuff on this site that I realised how prevailent this fakery is, good and bad!

Seller got in touch and has changed it accordingly, there are some honest people out there, looks like he was duped too at some point.

Another ??

I know what that is because I used to sell them !

My worry is not this seller passing it off as a Tokai, but another seller who also bought a batch and is selling them of has custom built guitars !

I paid $12 each for them at Port entry from China :-?

No, the above is a legitimate real late Springy, its a BLOCK logo from 1983. See pics on tokai registry: http://www.tokairegistry.com/tokai-info/tokai-fender.html

Gottfried, what's wrong with that one? It's not 1984 (first year for the Goldstars) but 1983, the last of the Springy's. That logo was only used that year. Of course it's hard to tell from those two pictures but I can't see anything wrong, at least not with the headstock. Do you have other pictures of it?

Mike

I just got some pics.
There are "50" and "Made in Japan" stickers on the neck near neckplate.
Don't know about the tremolo.

Didn't get aware of this.

Hmm, I've almost all Vintage Tokai catalogues in front of me.
There is no Block logo equipped Springy pictured. Mike, do you know in which catalog is it pictured?

Well, it should be in the 1983 catalog but that's not on the registry site. The 1983 catalog might even show the guitars with the spaghetti logo. I've seen several of these block logo strats though. I think the logo was the result of threats from Fender. The next year the Goldstars appeared with the logo still used today.

Thanks, bobtastik
Anyhow, I would like to have a proof through an official Tokai catalogue.
Since we know, not everything what's written at the info page is the holy Tokai bible.
BTW, Luis and Peter Mac could you maybe more enlighten?

I don't think you are going to find 100% documentary evidence, as far as I know the BLOCK logo was a temporary stopgap, that was only used (1983) while Tokai came up with the newer logo that is used to this day. I have personally have 4 Springys and one Goldstar with this type of BLOCK logo, I see no reason to doubt the authenticity of the Guitars that the mentioned Ebayer is selling.
