Hi.

I've just acquired this MIJ Aria Pro ii ZZ Explorer:

Excuse the poor quality of the pics - they're all I have at the moment.
The guitar is a bit battered, but seems to be largely in original condition.

One oddity is the maple fingerboard - many of them came with maple necks and rosewood fingerboards, but I haven't been able to find any pictures or info on ones with all maple.

Can anybody point me towards somewhere where I might be able to find additional info on this particular model ?

Thx,
Alan

Here's me playing my brothers ZZB Deluxe bass with maple board way back in the day.
Pretty decent bass as I recall. He used to get his Entwistle on with it but he really wanted an Alembic!

Cool pic.

Looks like that body shape and front pickup position are just about perfect for Bassmen :)

Looks like it's a 1983. Unfortunately the aria site doesn't have a catalog on file for that year and all the other ones simply state rosewood as the only option.

I wouldn't really worry about it though. They were probably pumping out a ton of guitars at the time and were just throwing together maple necked ones because they knew there was a demand for it, without specifically marketing it that way.

It's going to be an alder body regardless.

Thanks sc.

Makes sense in the world of high vol assembly.

I did manage to find one catalogue pic, which looks fairly similar - so it must have been or became an 'official' combination at one stage:

Maple neck and Alder body sounds good to me :)
