Hello !

I purchased a cream Goldstar 10 years ago, started to play it more and more and felt the need to adjust the neck relief !
To my surprise it didn’t moved much.
Decided to remove the nut to check what didn’t Worked.
And noticed a second nut attached to the truss rod.

Is this something you ever saw on a tokai ?
Is this neck been messed up ?

Cheers

Juju

That neck looks right, also it looks like the head of the adjustment screw has been sheared off - post some pics of the loose bits.

What really bothers me is this second nut which seems stuck.
Here is a new picture and a sketch that might make things easier to understand.

Don’t know if this is commun on Tokais.
But the adjusting seems stuck where that second nut is set...

Well ...

After grinding a custom tool to remove that nut
And a few drops of grease ...

This nut happens to move freely and acts like the Classic fender washer ...

Any other goldstar owner noticed that ?

Cheers !

Its pretty normal when you run out of threads on the rod and still can't get enough relief in the neck, to add washers under the truss rod nut so you no longer run out of threads... so an oversize nut would serve a similar purpose, it just wouldn't work as well.

You can check this by removing the small nut and tightening the truss rod nut all the way, I'd bet at that point the rod is either still loose or not putting enough relief in the neck.
