i've seen LS 196 "Reborn Old" model around ( https://reverb.com/uk/item/14082722-tokai-ls-196-ef-relic-semi-gloss-vld-made-i-japan-limited-edition ), but i can't really find any official info about it. listings say it has a nitrocellulose finish. is that true? does anyone have any official info, any catalogue with this model?

LS 186 70th anniversary: it says it has "Urethane Finish" [ http://www.tokai-guitars.nl/ls186ef-70th-ann-violin-finish.html ]

what is urethane finish? is it pretty much the same thing as polyurethane?

basically, i'm trying to figure out which one has fancier specs :)

If Tokai says it then you are safe 100%.
Urethane is one thing and nitrocelulouse another, although they use the term all laquear for an old style nitro finish (it takes 3 and half moths to cure).

the thing is, i can't find any "official" info about the "Reborn Old" model like in that link. and i can't trust info that sellers put out there because i've seen people make mistakes in their descriptions.

does anyone know anything about "Reborn Old" Semi Gloss 196 EF model that they seem to have made in 2018?

8) those new "reborn-old" series are the special orders by"rockin-hirano-gakki" of the tokai region of japan. they seem to be very close to tokai and ordering that series for the past several years. their "reborn-old" series guitars often have the brazillian rosewood fingerboard and more on the specs.

thanks for the info. it seems like the ones i'm looking at are special ordered by a spanish distributor.
