Hi there, went into a local shop today and spotted a Japanese Tokai SG for quite a good price (seems maybe too good?).

Thus wanted to see what others thought.

Heres all the information

Serial Number: 0205238 (stamped into the wood on the back of the headstock above the tuning heads. (Think this is a 2002 model then).

Stamped into the wood at the back of the headstock beneath the tuners "Made in Japan".

Body is two piece.

Main weird thing is the shop is selling it 'as new' - the plastic covering has still not been removed from the pickups and pick-guard etc. They couldn't really give me any history about the guitar. Seems odd considering its a 2002 model. Had a few dings so certainly was not new. Also it was missing the rubber thing from the pick up selector so it was essentially just a thread. Action was very low and the low e buzzed on the pickup. Because of this, it didn't play great.

Lemme know what you lot reckon. Worth it? Also if you could tell me the model/anything else you know it that would be great. Thanks!
