Hey, could you please help me estimate value of that guitar? https://reverb.com/item/1042504-greco-mint-collection-fb-80-made-in-japan

I'm assuming that the price in the ad is a bit high but i'm mostly interested in quality of Greco Firebirds. How do they compate to similar Firebirds from, for example, Ibanez or Gibsons?

thanks!
what would be fair price for the guitar in that shape (dings !)

Looks to be one of the lower end 'studio' Greco fb's rather than "One of the higher-end Greco FB models." Higher end ones had binding on the necks and the banjo tuners, plus the dings all over the neck would irritate me.

Pricewise it's always hard to estimate especially when not many turn up on UK soil but seen the Greco 'studio' FB's sell on Yahoo Japan around the 40K yen mark in better condition in the past. May well be worth the money if you don't want to buy from abroad or looking for a rare Greco FB but if looking for a FB I reckon you'd get better, even pick up a Gibson studio FB around that price with a little luck.

Personally I'd get a Orville by Gibson off Yahoo Japan as 4 have all sold around the 55K (£300) mark in the last few months. Even chucking in fees shipping and customs they'd come in less than that £586 all in

I will not comment on the price etc., as it is my listing. Just wanted to say that is what an original Firebird Bicentennial looks like (only with gold hardware). I do not think Greco made them with binding etc. in the mid- to late eighties. It is an "80"-model (80'000 Yen), so not a low-end guitar by any means, but what I really meant to say is that the guitar is one of the higher-end Mint Collection models. As I understand, Greco did not make many high-end guitars in the latter half of the eighties. Cheers!

Wasn't suggesting the guitar's low end by any means just thought it was misleading as it seemed to suggest it was it was the top of the line of the Greco Firebird range. All the Greco Mint Collection guitars I've had have been well made.

From what I've seen of the Greco FB's the late 70's project series is probably most sought after as they have the binding, banjo's and I think a correct thru neck, the late 70 's FB98 came with the vibrola too. During the mint collection I've only seen them advertised as either FB70 with singe pup or FB75 with 2 pups but I guess thru the years prices did increase so so would model numbers. They sometimes put the serial in the pup cavities if it's not on the back of the neck if you want to find the year.

Good luck with the sale, I've been tempted to get a FB on plenty of occasions and was bit pissed to have missed a non reverse one earlier in the week that sold on YJ for 40K.
