No Use Greco

Post by Nani » Wed Apr 16, 2008 9:49 am

There is actually a Led Zeppelin bootleg called "No Use Greco"!

As in, Jimmy Page doesn't use Greco Guitars. I think an ad was placed in the programme for Zep's performance in Osaka, Japan in 1972 that featured the band appearing to endorse Greco Guitars. Robert Plant made a point to mention this between songs at the show, and it became the title of the bootleg cd that came out years later.

So, do you think Jimmy could have rocked hard on a nice hollow Greco EGF 500?

That's funny!! I got one of those hollow top 500's a few years ago. I remember thinking it had an uncanny resemblance in tone to "How the west was won" DVD!

I've seen a Japanese page that says the same thing about JP using a Greco.

there`s a pic in one of my Japan Vintage books of Jimmy evidently in Japan with somebody handing him a guitar, the article is on Greco so safe to assume...wonder if they actually write what he thought of it after playing it...thay may have left that bit out. Still, he has a huge smile in the pic...but wouldn`t we all if somebody offered us free guitars too.
