Hi,

do you think this Tokai is MIJ ? Looks Korean to me ?

MIK

based on the relationship of the stop tailpiece/bridge with the volume knobs (line extended parallel with front edge of bridge does not bisect the gap between the volume knobs).

MIK because the bridge is not ABR-1 but Nashville style.

I guess somebody changed the TRC from 3-screw to 2-screw.

Thanks shilka for submitting that question.

This guitar's now mine...see here for more pics :

the serial seems to be wrong...but this guitar sounds very good !!! i honestly don't understand how is it possible a fake tokay copy could sound as good !

could you tell more about that dilemn ?

thanks

Korean Serial Numbers's
Current Made In Korea (MIK) models have serial numbers that start with a letter (A, B, C, etc) but a date scheme has yet to be determined. Certain models have serial numbers as seen in the table below. Guitar Serial Number Date Info
2001 Limited Edition Model number - not serial number 2001 only
Love Rocks Custom Shop Serial Number 2002 and maybe 2003
Love Rocks Serial Number starts with letter 2003
Love Rocks Serial Number starts with number first 2 digits=year 2004, maybe 2003

thank leadguitar for answering...as i can see, the serial number of the korean model are difficult to identify...The only thing i have to know is fake or not... :-? [/code]

Open the pickup cavity: is the flame solid wood, veneer or paint?
Open the control cavity: are the components MIC or MIK?
Are the tuners, stop piece, bridge, or pickups branded?

It's..............COUNTERFEIT!!!

Actually, if I did ever buy from a seller who sells those, I would say

"my experience was not positive and I would not buy from them again"

Hold on, I though MIK Love Rocks didn't have serial numbers - mine doesn't.

I just have a new name for sopoused to be chinese Tokais: Tokaphones.

Do you like it guys?

Fakai... Tokaphone....

From the top, heading down:-

Tokai and Love Rock model too bold (could be the pic)
Love Rock Model not "straight up"
2 Screw TRC
Stamped Serial Number
Binding on body almost looks white, not cream
No felt wshers under strap pins
Pickups should have covers
Screws in pickup rings round heads, not countersunk
Pickup adjusting screw heads too big
Control cavity and knobs off axis
Vol & Tone knobs wrong

And the bridge is all wrong..........check the height adjusters, that type of bridge is a typical feature of a counterfeit les paul from china.

I'm in the same boat.....the Love Rock I bought 2 yrs ago from SongBird Music in Toronto has no serial number on it.

Guess I got duped ...and Songbird Music has gone bellyup !

No, I checked on here before I bought it, & I was told that the MIK Love Rocks didn't have serial numbers. Are people changing their mind now? This is mine:

Korean Tokais bought the official UK distributor did not have any serial numbers on them what so ever.

Interestingly enough - The latest batch of Chinese tokai have changed their serial code format - no longer starts with FC.

You are right about serial number Richard......This serial reminds me about chinese Burny.....
