Recently purchased and returned my dream Tokai ATE Rosewood - which was represented as a 1985 but turned out to be a modern fake. I am seeing these on ATEs on EBAY all the time now. Please be aware these are made of a type of press board or a type of MDF not real wood! The whole guitar is no where near the quality of the actual 80's vintage version but are being sold at vintage prices.
Since the guitar was already few year old the wood was starting to break down. The 1/4" jack was loose and was not repairable because the MDF and kept chipping away like a cheap IKEA cabinet.
In my opinion it sounded nothing like a Tele. The pickups sound was not near the quality of the other vintage Tokai Guitars I own. Note the cheap magnets glued to the back.
Just wanted to show some pictures to help someone identify these guitars and avoid the mistake I made. It is my opinion these guitars are not worth the $1200+ that is being asked...

Here is an image of pickups and mdf...

Ser # could be printed in the neck pocket

Looking like an ATE70 in the 2003 catalogue page 6 https://www.vintagejapanguitars.com.br/en/tokai-2003-catalogue/
