what "A"ST & "N"LS really means by tokai?

お問い合わせの件でございますが
AST等のAは70年代~80年代にかけてアメリカ向けにヘッド形状を変更したモデルを販売しておりまして、Aはアメリカの頭文字、Aになります、
その後ヘッド形状を変更して、日本国内及び他の地域でも販売しております。
またNLSはLSのヘッド形状を変更したモデルで、NはNEWの意味になります。
いずれにしましても社内で区別をつける為の品番ですので、それほど深い意味合いはございません。

8) i asked tokai-japan what is the exact meanings of "A"ST and "N"LS and they explained their official facts in the email above. "A" means AMERICA and tokai began using those model names in the 70s~80s for the USA market. those models have the modified shape headstock and tokai has made them for many markets since. "N" means NEW, not NORTH-AMERICA. this LS model has the modified shape LS headstock.
